Our free online text wrapper hard-wraps your text to a specified maximum column width. Choose word-boundary wrapping (breaks at space between words for clean lines that never exceed the limit) or character wrapping (breaks at exact character count). An optional "preserve paragraphs" mode keeps double line breaks (paragraph separators) intact while wrapping individual paragraphs. Frequently asked questions
What happens to a word longer than the width?
It is split into chunks so the line can stay within the chosen width. Other words wrap at spaces. Word mode normalizes whitespace within each paragraph.
Does this measure visual width on screen?
No. The width uses JavaScript string units, which correspond to ordinary ASCII characters but can differ for emoji and combining marks. Proportional fonts also have different visual character widths.
What does Preserve Paragraphs do?
It keeps blank-line paragraph separators while wrapping each paragraph separately.
