Stream Countdown Overlay
Free starting-soon countdown timer overlay for OBS. Count down to a time or a duration, then copy the browser-source URL.
Target time uses the clock and timezone of the device running the browser source. A time already passed means tomorrow.
How to add this to OBS
- Set your countdown above, then click Copy Overlay URL.
- In OBS, add a Browser source and paste the URL at 1920 × 1080.
- Duration mode starts when the source loads and keeps its deadline through refreshes when browser storage is available. Use New countdown URL for a fresh run, then replace the source URL.
- The preview runs independently. Target time follows the browser-source device’s local clock and moves to tomorrow if that time has passed. Storage and running state are separate between your browser and OBS.
About the Stream Countdown Overlay
Our free stream countdown overlay creates a "starting soon" timer for your live stream — no plugin, no signup. Choose a duration (counts down from when the source loads) or a target time (counts to a fixed clock time), set your label, theme, accent color, and background, then copy the overlay URL into an OBS or Streamlabs Browser Source. Duration mode preserves its deadline, including the finished state, through source refreshes when local storage is available. Use New countdown URL and replace the URL in OBS to start a fresh run. The website preview and OBS run independently. Target time uses the browser-source device clock; a time that has already passed means tomorrow. The overlay can be fully transparent or use a solid scene background. Everything runs in your browser and your settings live in the URL.

Frequently asked questions
Does the countdown reset when OBS refreshes the source?
Duration mode saves its deadline in that browser source when local storage is available. Reloading the same URL continues the timer or shows the finished message. Click New countdown URL and replace the OBS source URL to restart. Clearing or blocking storage removes this persistence.
What is the difference between duration and target mode?
Duration counts down a set number of minutes from when the overlay loads — ideal for a "starting in 10:00" screen. Target mode counts down to the next occurrence of a local clock time, such as 20:00, on the browser-source device. A time that has passed means tomorrow. It is not a shared time-zone-aware event deadline.
Is the background transparent?
It can be. Choose Transparent to show just the timer over your scene, or Dark / Gradient for a full starting-soon screen that covers everything.
