Find and Replace
Free online find and replace tool. Search and replace text with case-sensitive and regex options. Instant results with match count.
About the Find and Replace
Our free find and replace tool swaps every occurrence of a word or phrase in your text with something else, making bulk edits across a whole document in one step. Paste your text, enter what to find and what to replace it with, and the tool updates every match instantly. It is essential for correcting a repeated mistake, updating a name or term throughout a document, reformatting data, and cleaning up text before publishing. You can choose case-sensitive matching and, for advanced needs, pattern-based replacement so you can target exactly what you want. This is far faster and more reliable than editing each instance by hand. Copy the result with a single click. Everything runs locally in your browser, so it is immediate, free, requires no signup, and your text stays private.

Frequently asked questions
What is regex (regular expression) mode?
Regex mode allows you to use pattern-based search instead of exact text matching. For example, \d+ matches all numbers, \s matches whitespace, and [aeiou] matches any vowel. This is useful for complex find-and-replace operations.
Can I replace text across multiple lines?
Yes. The textarea accepts line breaks. In regex mode use [\s\S] to match any character including a newline. This interface sets global matching and optional case-insensitive matching; it does not expose a separate dotall flag.
How accurate is the match count?
The match count shows exactly how many occurrences of your search term exist in the text. In case-sensitive mode, only exact case matches are counted. In regex mode, each pattern match is counted.
Using the results
