Word Scrambler
Shuffle letters within words for puzzles and classroom activities. Choose mild scrambling or full scrambling.
About the Word Scrambler
Create scrambled words for spelling practice, classroom puzzles and text games. Mild mode keeps the first and last characters of each whitespace-separated word in place and shuffles the middle. Full mode shuffles every character within each word. Spaces and line breaks remain between the words. Punctuation attached to a word participates in the shuffle, so use a plain word list when you want letter-only puzzles. The tool creates jumbles; it does not solve anagrams or recover an original word from an arbitrary scramble.
Features

Frequently asked questions
Can this unscramble a word?
No. It generates scrambled text. A jumble can correspond to several real words, so the original cannot be recovered by simply reversing the shuffle.
What is the difference between the two modes?
Mild leaves the first and last characters in place. Full can move every character within a word. Very short words may remain unchanged.
