How Base64 Works

  3. Convert each 6-bit value (0-63) to its corresponding Base64 character
  4. If the last chunk has fewer than 3 bytes, add padding (=)

Simple Example

Encoding the word “Man” to Base64:

  • M → 77 → 01001101
  • a → 97 → 01100001
  • n → 110 → 01101110

Combined: 010011 010110 000101 101110
